Employee Code of Conduct & Technical Ethics
Public Standard of Accountability • Binding on All Technicians, Administrators & Staff
1. Statement of Principle & Public Accountability
Tekcom Solutions was founded on the core philosophy that technical competence is meaningless without absolute integrity. Because our team has physical and logical access to customer personal and corporate computing environments, every employee, apprentice, and subcontractor is bound by this public Code of Conduct. We publish this standard openly so clients know the level of ethical rigor expected of our staff.
2. Inviolate Customer Privacy & Anti-Snooping Charter
Technicians operate under a strict, zero-tolerance policy regarding customer data curiosity:
- No Browsing of Personal Files: Technicians are strictly prohibited from inspecting photo directories, personal documents, browser histories, video files, or communications unless explicitly authorized to verify a specific filesystem restore.
- No Data Exfiltration: Under no circumstances may a technician copy, extract, photograph, or transfer customer data to personal flash drives, cloud storage, or external devices. All bench test images remain localized and wiped.
- Immediate Termination: Any employee found in violation of customer data sanctity will face immediate termination of employment and referral to legal authorities where criminal statutes apply.
3. Transparent Diagnostics & Anti-Deception Standard
Tekcom Solutions prohibits upselling unneeded services, deceptive diagnostic quoting, or intentional misrepresentation of hardware defects. Technicians must:
- Deliver clear diagnostic proof (thermal camera readouts, SMART health test logs, multimeter voltage drop figures) to support any recommended board replacement or part renewal.
- Quote genuine replacement component costs transparently without predatory price gouging.
- Advise clients objectively when equipment is beyond economical repair rather than performing cosmetic fixes on failing architecture.
4. Anti-Harassment, Dignity & Non-Discrimination
Our workshop and customer intake desk operate with dignity and mutual respect. We strictly prohibit discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, sexual orientation, disability, national origin, religion, or technical literacy. Whether working with a non-technical senior citizen or an enterprise network engineer, staff communicate with patience, courtesy, and professional respect.
5. Abandoned Hardware Protocols & Statutory Possessory Liens (6 P.S. § 11)
Technicians are legally bound to follow our strict 4-step chain-of-custody protocol for unclaimed equipment:
- Strict 30-Day Window: No equipment may be processed for parts harvesting or salvage prior to the expiration of the full 30-day forfeiture period and dispatch of certified legal notice.
- Mandatory Data Obliteration: Before any abandoned device is liquidated, repurposed, or transferred to certified recycling, technicians must physically destroy or cryptographically sanitize all customer storage drives in accordance with NIST SP 800-88 / DoD 5220.22-M standards. No abandoned computer is ever permitted to leave the lab with recoverable user data.
- PA CDRA Landfill Ban: In accordance with Pennsylvania's Covered Device Recycling Act (Act 108), under no circumstances may dead motherboards, monitors, laptops, or batteries be discarded into municipal trash. All e-waste must be logged and routed to certified ITAD recycling handlers.
5. Environmental Safety, Lithium Battery Care & E-Waste
Employees are trained in hazardous workshop procedures, including swollen Lithium-Ion battery disposal, proper flux ventilation, lead-free and leaded solder handling, and safe electronic waste disposal. No hazardous batteries or halogenated components may be deposited into standard waste bins; all e-waste is channeled through certified, responsible electronic recycling facilities.
6. Ethics Whistleblower & Incident Reporting
Any customer or employee who observes conduct inconsistent with this Code is encouraged to submit a confidential report directly to executive leadership at [email protected]. We enforce strict non-retaliation protections for all good-faith reports of ethical violations.
