Data Privacy & Confidentiality Policy

Effective Date: October 2026 • Compliant with NIST 800-88 & Commercial Data Privacy Standards

1. Our Privacy Pledge Regarding Customer Storage Media

At Tekcom Solutions, we recognize that personal computers, mobile workstations, and corporate drives entrusted to our technicians contain the most sensitive facets of your life—confidential corporate communications, personal tax documents, proprietary code, financial ledgers, family media, and personal passwords.

Strict Zero-Exploration Policy: Tekcom Solutions technicians are legally and ethically barred from browsing, viewing, opening, copying, or distributing customer personal files, document folders, photo libraries, or browser histories. Diagnostic evaluation is conducted strictly at the OS kernel, hardware telemetry, memory error, and file structure level.

2. Categories of Information We Collect

  • Customer Account Details: Name, billing/service address, primary email, contact phone number, and commercial entity name.
  • Hardware Telemetry & Device Identity: Serial numbers, motherboard UUIDs, MAC addresses, IMEI numbers (mobile devices), SMART health telemetry data, temperature logs, and crash dump stacks (BSOD/kernel panic minidumps).
  • Access Credentials Provided for Repair: Local temporary Windows/macOS user account passwords explicitly provided by the customer to allow technicians to test audio, video drivers, sleep wake cycles, and thermal throttle behavior post-repair.

3. How Technicians Handle Customer Credentials

When login credentials are required to complete post-assembly validation or OS debloating, customers are encouraged to provide a temporary local account or PIN. All credentials entered on intake documentation are encrypted within our access-controlled database and are permanently purged upon invoice completion and ticket closure. Technicians will never ask for bank credentials, master password vault keys, or secondary email passwords.

4. Data Sanitization & Component Disposal (NIST SP 800-88)

When defective or retired storage media (SSDs, hard drives, USB flash units) are replaced at our bench, the customer may choose to retain the damaged drive. If surrendered to Tekcom Solutions for disposal, the media undergoes cryptographic erasure or physical destruction adhering to NIST Special Publication 800-88 Revision 1 (Guidelines for Media Sanitization) standards to prevent forensic recovery.

5. Disclosure Exceptions: Mandatory Legal Reporting

Tekcom Solutions will never disclose customer records to third parties without consent, with two strict statutory exceptions:

  1. Valid, unappealable judicial subpoenas or court orders issued by Pennsylvania state or federal courts.
  2. Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM): In compliance with federal statute 18 U.S.C. § 2258A, if technicians encounter evidence of visual depictions of child sexual exploitation during hardware triage, we are federally mandated to report the incident immediately to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and turn over evidence to law enforcement.

6. Zero Data Monetization

We do not sell, rent, monetize, broker, or exchange your personal information, technical telemetry, or repair logs with third-party advertisers, data brokers, or marketing syndicates.
